Milovice Airfield

Milovice was a military training ground for about one hundred years. 1904 it was built by the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, around 60 years later it has become the biggest military base for the Soviet armed forces: Around 100.000 Soviets, soldiers, officers and their families used to live here. After the Cold War they were withdrawn and until two years ago you were able to explore a huge ghost town! But today there isn’t that much left - except for a giant airstrip. But ramblers, tuning car shows, gun bullets, small vessels with strange substances inside (our guess: drugs) and small planes that start and land on the runway from time to time reveal that this airstrip isn’t as abandoned as you might think. However, standing on this huge field between the historic hangars was overwhelming!
